Time with Sydney

This week we have had our niece Sydney with us. My sister Sarah and her husband have been at the Mary Kay seminar in Texas. Because I can't really take time off right now because I am saving the time for Will, my Mom and Dad split up the week and each have babysit my niece all day and taken care of the nights. It has been such a learning opportunity for me and Geremy. Although we are being spoiled by not having to do "night duty" right now, we have seen what it is like to come in from work and be right in the "game" of taking care of a baby. We are realizing what we don't need in the house and what we do need. Also, it has been such a blessing to watch my parents give so unselfishly. They have gotten up at 3:00 in the morning to make bottles, feed, burp and put Sydney back to sleep. They have held back from holding her too much so that Sydney will not be spoiled when Sarah is back so that it's not too tough on her next week. They have tried so hard to stick to the "schedule" and have just overall been wonderful grandparents. I feel so blessed to know that they will do the same for our son and can't wait for them to have their chance. This picture is of me holding my sleeping niece on a boppy at the beginning of the week. I realized pretty quickly that my belly is too big to hold her comfortably, but this was a sweet moment. Will was moving in my belly and Sydney was sleeping. I was hoping they could feel each other. I hope they will be close through the years.

Swollen...

My feet were swollen the entire weekend of 4th of July. I kept drinking plenty of water, but it didn't seem to help. At one point, when I was getting ready for bed, a pool of water developed on my left foot from just standing in one place for about 5 minutes. Needless to say, I was a little concerned. I had my doctor's appointment that next week, so I decided to wait to talk to the Dr then. At my appointment, I failed my glucose test and was told that I was gaining too much weight. It was not an encouraging appointment. I took the 3 hour glucose test the following Monday and can say I passed with flying colors. The swelling has gone down a lot. I try to keep my feet elevated through out the day at work and I try to avoid eating too much salt. Since my sugar was ok on the second glucose test, I am not as concerned about my weight gain. I have said no to the extra bowls of ice cream at night, but am still eating a cookie every once in a while. I feel very certain that Will is taking after his father with his sweet tooth. I have eaten more sweets since being pregnant than I probably did in the last 2 years combined.

July 4th

We spent July 4th in Florida at my sister's home. It was a wonderful time with family. We spent time at the beach together 2 days and were able to see the fire works over the ocean. They were beautiful. Will moved like crazy during the fire works. I was actually a little nervous he was trying to come out early that night, but he was fine, just a little excited I guess. Here is a picture of me and Geremy with my family on July 4th.
